in Arlington
The city of Arlington, population 189,453 located
on the southwest bank of the Potomac, and is 7 miles south
of Washington D.C. Arlington County is the smallest county
in the United States and is located in the Eastern Region
of the state. It covers 25.7 square miles, of which about
4.6 square miles are federal property. Arlington has no incorporated
community. Some of the major centers of development are Ballston,
Clarendon, Columbia Pike, Crystal City, Rosslyn and Shirlington.
Renter occupied housing is 54% of total housing.
One of Arlington's attractions is its central
location in the Washington DC metropolitan area, as well
as its easy access by car and public transportation. Arlington
is more densely populated around Metro-Rail stations in
the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor and the Jefferson Davis corridor
(which includes Pentagon City and Crystal City), while maintaining
lower density in the rest of the County.
